Of Portraiture and Weddings

Ever since the release of my picture books, I've been practising illustrations to get a consistent style. I think I've finally hit upon the happy medium between hand drawing and digital art (or it could be 3 am sleep deprivation talking.)

I practised with one of my favourite photographs. I adore this picture of my younger daughter taken during my cousin's wedding. She was so bored! But her thick-lashed (she has the most gorgeous long lashes I've ever seen), large-eyed stare was too good to pass by.

I suppose it's not much fun for a two year old at a wedding - silken attire, constant cheek pinching, interminable cuddling, unintelligible cooing - and this is just from their mother. Imagine the great aunts.
